2025 NFL Draft: Second Round Mock Draft and Analysis

By Gregg Schutze, last updated 4/25/25

The updated Second Round mock draft was completed prior to the start of the second round and is taking into account the actual picks made during the 1st Round on April 24th.  I am still including my picks form the last second round mock draft conducted on 4/11.

33. Cleveland Browns – Tyler Shough, QB, 6'5", 219lbs, Louisville

04/11/25 - Tyler Shough, QB, Louisville

1st Round Selection (5th overall) - Mason Graham, DT, Michigan

The Browns need to target a young QB through the draft and Shough seems to be the most NFL ready of the remaining QBs.  Joe Flacco and Kenny Pickett will battle for the starting job while Shough can learn from the vets before making a play for a starting spot.  The Browns have gained picks from Jacksonville, so if they aren't sold on Shough, they can target a QB in next year's draft.

34. Houston Texans (from NY Giants) – Luther Burden III, WR, 6’0”, 206lbs, Missouri, Jr.

04/11/25 (NY Giants) - Jalen Milroe, QB, 6’2”, 217lbs, Alabama, Jr.

1st Round Selection - none.  Traded 25th pick to NY Giants.

Stefon Diggs is gone and Tank Dell is recovering from an injury, so the Texans need a WR to team with Nico Collins.  Burden III is an explosive weapon with the ability to take the top off the defense.

35. Tennessee Titans – Donovan Ezeiruaku, Edge, 6'2", 247lbs, Boston College

04/11/25 - Luther Burden III, WR, Missouri

1st Round Selection (1st overall) - Cam Ward, QB, Miami, Fla.

Harold Landry was the team's sack leader in 2024 with 9.5 sacks, but he's now in New England.  Tennessee needs an edge rusher who can get after the QB consistently and Ezeiruaku finished the 2024 season with 16.5 sacks.  Ezeiruaku may not have ideal length, but he does use his length (34-inch arms) to his advantage to attack the edge and has the flexibility to bend and turn the corner in a hurry.  He has a high football IQ and will attack the QB with a vast repertoire of pass rush moves.

36. Cleveland Browns (from Jacksonville) – Aireontae Ersery, OT, 6'6", 331lbs, Minnesota

04/11/25 (Jacksonville) - Maxwell Hairston, CB, Kentucky

1st Round Selection (5th overall) - Mason Graham, DT, Michigan

The Browns need an OT now that Jedrick Wills is gone.  Ersery is a long, athletic OT who is a force in the ground game and moves really well in pass protection.  He has a chance to start right away in Cleveland.

37. Las Vegas Raiders – Will Johnson, CB, 6'2", 194lbs, Michigan, Jr.

04/11/25 - Trey Amos, CB, Mississippi

1st Round Selection (6th Overall) - Ashton Jeanty. RB, Boise State

The Raiders let Jack Jones go and must target a CB early in the draft.  Vegas gets lucky with the fall of Will Johnson who slipped to Round 2 given his injury history.  However, when healthy Johnson is a top-flight corner with tremendous length and ball skills.  He's not a fit for every defense because he tends to struggle in man coverage, but his ability to play with his eyes in the backfield allow him to trigger on the ball in a hurry and make a play on the ball by undercutting the route.  Johnson could be a steal.

38. New England Patriots – Mike Green, Edge, 6'3", 251lbs, Marshall, RS Soph.

04/11/25 - Nic Scourton, Edge, Texas A&M

1st Round Selection (4th overall) - Will Campbell, OT, LSU

The Pats could use another edge rusher to team with Harold Landry and Green was the FBS leader a season ago with 17.0 sacks.  Green's off-field concerns likely caused his stock to drop to Round 2, but he's a dynamic weapon off the edge and can get to the QB in a variety of ways.

39. Chicago Bears (from Carolina) – TreVeyon Henderson, RB, 5’10”, 214lbs, Ohio State

04/11/25 - TreVeyon Henderson, RB, Ohio State

1st Round Selection (10th overall) - Colston Loveland, TE, Michigan

Ben Johnson gets his RB in Round 2 to team with DeAndre Swift to give him the two-headed monster he had in Detroit with David Montgomery and Jahmyr Gibbs.  Henderson is an explosive back whose skillset is reminiscent of what Gibbs brings to the table, giving Johnson yet another weapon for his offense.

40. New Orleans Saints – Azareye’h Thomas, CB, 6’1 ½”, 197lbs, Florida State, Jr.

04/11/25 - Azareye’h Thomas, CB, Florida State

1st Round Selection (9th overall) - Kelvin Banks Jr., OT, Texas

The Saints get their OT in Round 1, then turn their focus to the defensive side of the ball.  While the Saints could target an OG or an edge rusher, I think corner is actually the bigger need and Thomas is one of the top press corners in this year's draft.

41. Chicago Bears – Nic Scourton, Edge, 6’3”, 257lbs, Texas A&M, Jr.

04/11/25 - Walter Nolen, DT, Mississippi

1st Round Selection (10th overall) - Colston Loveland, TE, Michigan

The Bears' second pick in Round 2 will be used on the defensive side of the ball to give Montez Sweat a running mate.  Dayo Odeyingbo was a nice start in free agency, but Scourton is an athletic edge rusher who is expected to return to the double-digit sack form we saw from him at Purdue.

42. New York Jets – Mason Taylor, TE, 6’5”, 251lbs, LSU, Jr.

04/11/25 - Mason Taylor, TE, LSU

1st Round Selection (7th overall) - Armand Membou, OT, Missouri

The Jets could also use a WR here as they need to find another weapon to team with Garrett Wilson in the passing game.  Mason Taylor is clearly the No. 3 TE in this year's draft and is a reliable weapon who can work the middle of the field and is productive after the catch.  He can be the TE Aaron Glenn is looking for to replace Tyler Conklin.

43. San Francisco 49ers – Trey Amos, CB, 6’1”, 205lbs, Mississippi

04/11/25 - Oluwafemi Oladejo, UCLA

1st Round Selection (11th overall) - Mykel Williams, Edge, Georgia

San Fran picked up their edge rusher in Round 1, allowing them to focus on the corner position here.  Amos has the size and ball skills to compete for the starting spot opposite Renardo Green.

44. Dallas Cowboys – Jayden Higgins, WR, 6’4”, 214lbs, Iowa State

04/11/25 - Benjamin Morrison, CB, Notre Dame

1st Round Selection (12th overall) - Tyler Booker, OG, Alabama

Dallas addressed the OL first by taking Booker to replace the retired Zack Martin.  Now Dallas targets a WR to team with CeeDee Lamb.  Higgins has good size, showcases tremendous body control, wins contested catches and can get open with his route running.  He would be the perfect complement to Lamb.

45. Indianapolis Colts – Benjamin Morrison, CB, 6’0”, 193lbs, Notre Dame, Jr.

04/11/25 - Tyler Booker, OG, Alabama

1st Round Selection (14th overall) - Tyler Warren, TE, Penn State

The Colts have a need at CB even after signing Charvarius Ward.  Morrison was a 1st Round talent but he falls to Round 2 because of the ACL tear he suffered early this season.  His 9 career Int. is evidence of his ball skills and playmaking ability.

46. Los Angeles Rams (from Atlanta) – Carson Schwesinger, ILB, 6’2 ½”, 242lbs, UCLA, Jr.

04/11/25 (Atlanta)- Shavon Revel, CB, East Carolina

1st Round Selection - none.  Traded 26th pick to Atlanta

The Rams trade out of Round One and get a pick here to target an ILB which is the most glaring need on defense.  Schwesinger was a former walk-on at UCLA, but then churned out 136 total tackles, 9 TFL and 4 Sacks to go along with a pair of Int. in 2024.  He's a playmaker with good size and is just what the Rams need to line up next to Omar Speights, who was a surprise a season ago as a UDFA.

47. Arizona Cardinals – Jaylin Noel, WR, 5'10", 194lbs, Iowa State

04/11/25 - Donovan Jackson, OL, Ohio State

1st Round Selection (16th overall) - Walter Nolen, DT, Mississippi

Arizona needs a No. 2 WR for Kyler Murray and Noel has the athleticism to get deep vertically and the savvy route running ability to work routes underneath as well.  Teaming Noel with Marvin Harrison Jr. and Michael Wilson along with TE Trey McBride would give Murray a variety of weapons to choose from when attacking the opposition through the air.

48. Miami Dolphins – Xavier Watts, S, 6’0”, 204lbs, Notre Dame

04/11/25 - Darius Alexander, DT, 6’4”, 310lbs, Toledo

1st Round Selection (13th overall) - Kenneth Grant, DT, Michigan

Miami lost Jevon Holland and Jordan Poyer and while both Ifeatu Melifonwu and Ashtyn Davis were signed as replacements, both are seen more as depth pieces.  Watts is a dynamic safety patrolling the back end of the defense with 13 Int. in his career.  The converted WR uses his instincts to be a playmaker in the passing game and he also returned to Notre Dame for the 2024 season to become an improved tackler against the run.

49. Cincinnati Bengals – Nick Emmanwori, S, 6'3", 220lbs, South Carolina

04/11/25 - Carson Schwesinger, ILB, UCLA

1st Round Selection (17th overall) - Shemar Stewart, Edge, Texas A&M

Cincy needs a safety and Emmanwori, who I had mocked to Seattle at No. 18 overall, would be a steal here.  Emmanwori led the team with 88 tackles while also picking off 4 passes, returning two of them for a TD.  His versatility is much needed in the Bengals' secondary and after the performance at the Combine, we know his athleticism is off the charts which is also a need making him a perfect fit.

50. Seattle Seahawks – Tre Harris, WR, 6'2", 205lbs, Mississippi

04/11/25 - Aireontae Ersery, OT, Minnesota

1st Round Selection (18th overall) - Grey Zabel, OL, North Dakota State

Seattle may have signed Cooper Kupp and Marques Valdez-Scantling to team with Jaxon Smith-Njigba, but the Hawks need additional production from a WR who can be a long-term option on the outside with JSN.  Harris is a savvy route runner and is a deep weapon and would be a perfect fit in Seattle's WR corps.

51. Denver Broncos – Darius Alexander, DT, 6'4", 305lbs, Toledo

04/11/25 - Jayden Higgins, WR, Iowa State

1st Round Selection (20th overall) - Jahdae Barron, CB, Texas

Denver's running game wasn't very productive a season ago and with Javonte Williams now in Dallas, that leaves Jaleel McLaughlin and Audric Estime to team in the backfield.  What is lacking is a true RB1 and Judkins would be a perfect fit having rushed for over a 1,000 yards in each of his three seasons at Ole Miss and Oho State.  He's strong between the tackles, but his sub-4.5 speed also shows he's faster than expected.

52. Seattle Seahawks (from Pittsburgh) – Ozzy Trapilo, OT, 6'8 1/8", 318lbs, Boston College

04/11/25 - Shemar Turner, DT, Texas A&M

1st Round Selection (18th overall) - Grey Zabel, OL, North Dakota State

Seattle doubles up on the OL by selecting RT Ozzy Trapilo to be insurance for Abraham Lucas, who has battled knee injuries during his time in Seattle having played in only 13 games over the last two seasons.  Trapilo has tremendous length and moves well for his size while also possesses the strength to generate a ton of movement in the running game, making him a perfect option at RT.

53. Tampa Bay Buccaneers – Oluwafemi Oladejo, Edge, 6'3", 259lbs, UCLA

04/11/25 - Xavier Watts, S, Notre Dame

1st Round Selection (19th overall) - Emeka Egbuka, WR, Ohio State

Tampa could try to target an LB to be the eventual replacement for Lavonte David, but instead they use this pick on an ascending pass rush prospect to get after the QB.  Haason Reddick is primed for a breakout season after an abysmal season with the Jets, but Yaya Diaby is going to need more help up front.

54. Green Bay Packers – Shavon Revel, CB, 6’3”, 193lbs, East Carolina

04/11/25 - Darien Porter, CB, 6’3”, 195lbs, Iowa State

1st Round Selection (23rd overall) - Matthew Golden, WR, Texas

The Packers still have Jaire Alexander under contract, but given his lack of reliability seems to indicate his time in Green Bay is running out.  Even if Alexander stays with the Pack, adding another corner to compete with Keisean Nixson for the other starting spot is a must.  Revel has 1st Round ability with a rare combination of size, length and ball skills, but his ACL tear in September causes him to fall to the 2nd Round.  This could be a steal.

55. Los Angeles Chargers – Jalen Royals, WR, 6'0", 205lbs, Utah State

04/11/25 - Quinshon Judkins, RB, Ohio State

1st Round Selection (22nd overall) - Omarion Hampton, RB, North Carolina

The Chargers need to find a downfield threat to team with Ladd McConkey, especially with Quentin Johnston failing to live up to 1st Rond expectations.  Royals has 4.4 speed but also is incredibly quick off the line of scrimmage, is dynamic in his route running and can be a threat to go the distance.

56. Buffalo Bills (from Minnesota) – Kaleb Johnson, RB, 6’1”, 224lbs, Iowa, Jr.

04/11/25 - Tyleik Williams, DT, Ohio State

1st Round Selection (30th overall) - Maxwell Hairston, CB, Kentucky

The Bills need to decide what to do with James Cook since he's sitting out offseason workouts waiting on a new contract.  Johnson is a big-bodied RB who rushed for 1,537 yards and 21 TD who can be physical downhill but will make you miss in a phone booth and has the ability to rack up yards in a hurry.

57. Carolina Panthers (from LA Rams) – Bradyn Swinson, Edge, 6'4, 255lbs, LSU

04/11/25 - Jack Bech, WR, TCU

1st Round Selection (8th overall) - Tetairoa McMillan, WR, Arizona

Carolina opted to select a No.1 WR for Bryce Young instead of selecting Jalon Walker so the Panthers target an edge rusher in the second.  Swinson is an ascending prospect who racked up a career-high 8.5 sacks this past season and would push Jadeveon Clowney and DJ Wonnum for playing time as the duo managed just 9.5 sacks in 2024.

58. Houston Texans – Jonah Savaiinaea, OG, 6’4 1/8”, 324lbs, Arizona, Jr.

04/11/25 - Kaleb Johnson, RB, Iowa

1st Round Selection - none.  Traded 25th pick to NY Giants

Houston needs to address the OL and while they could target an OT, I think the play is actually along the interior of the line.  Laken Tomlinson and Ed Ingram were brought in on one-year deals, but neither is guaranteed to be on the roster beyond this season.  Savaiinaea is a powerful lineman who started at RT with the Wildcats but will kic inside to OG and will bring some physicality to Houston's OL.

59. Baltimore Ravens – Darien Porter, CB, 6'3", 195lbs, Iowa State

04/11/25 - Elic Ayomanor, WR, Stanford

1st Rond Selection (27th overall) - Malaki Starks, S, Georgia

Porter is an athletic corner who is continuing to develop and would give the Ravens size and speed at the position.  Adding Porter with Starks would solidify the back end of Baltimore's defense.

60. Detroit Lions – JT Tuimoloau, Edge, 6’4”, 270lbs, Ohio State

04/11/25 - JT Tuimoloau, Edge, Ohio State

1st Round Selection (28th overall) - Tyleik Williams, DT, Ohio State

Detroit needs to address the pass rush especially considering Aidan Hutchinson was he team leader with 7.5 sacks after only playing in five games before suffering the gruesome leg injury.  ZaDarius Smith was No. 2 on the team in sacks with 4.0 and he joined the team midseason.  Tuimoloau is physical and relentless getting after the QB and has continued to develop during his time at Ohio State, as evidenced by the 12.5 sacks he racked up a season ago.

61. Washington Commanders – Jordan Burch, Edge, 6'4", 279lb, Oregon

04/11/25 - Jonah Savaiinaea, OG, Arizona

1st Round Selection (29th overall) -

It was surprising to see the Commanders target an OT in Round One instead of an edge rusher.  Washington coudl easily trade up to get a DE, but staying here would allow them to go after the versatile Jordan Burch, who played at 290 pounds at Oregon and racked up 8.5 sacks this past season but is now down to 279 pounds and could fit in well along Dan Quinn's DL.

62. Buffalo Bills – Jack Bech, WR, 6'", 214lbs, TCU

04/11/25 - Landon Jackson, Edge, Arkansas

1st Round Selection (30th overa;l) - Maxwell Hairston, CB, Kentucky

Buffalo needs a No. 2 WR to team with Keon Coleman and Khalil Shakir and Bech, the Senior Bowl MVP, is a reliable target with an incredible catch radius and strong hands.  He does a tremendous job with his route running, can create separation late and has tremendous body control.  He seems like a perfect fit and would likely become a favorite target for Josh Allen.

63. Kansas City Chiefs – Darius Alexander, DT, 6'4", 305lbs, Toledo

04/11/25 - Joshua Farmer, DT, Florida State

1st Round Selection (32nd overall) - Josh Simmons, OT, Ohio State

KC brought back Mike Pennel and signed Jerry Tillery, but Chris Jones still needs a dynamic option to get quick penetration and offer pass rush ability from the inside.  Alexander can be just that.  He has a similar skillset as Jones and could be the perfect complement up front.

64. Philadelphia Eagles – Terrance Ferguson, TE, 6'5", 247lbs, Oregon

04/11/25 - Ozzy Trapilo, OT, Boston College

1st Round Selection (31st overall) - Jihaad Campbell, LB, Alabama

Dallas Goedert has been a perfect complement to AJ Brown and Devonte Smith in the passing game, but adding another receiving option like Terrance Ferguson would be an upgrade over Grant Calcaterra.  Ferguson is also a solid blocker which can only help Saquon Barkley and Jalen Hurts in the ground game.
